PIXELIX OPS — INSTALLING ON WINDOWS =================================== Download the current version from: https://ops.pixelixmarketing.com/updates/ Take the file whose name matches your PC: Pixelix Ops Setup x64.exe most Windows PCs Pixelix Ops Setup arm64.exe Surface Pro X / Snapdragon only Pixelix Ops--win.zip no-installer option, see Option 2 Windows will warn that it "can't verify" the app. That is expected. It happens because the app is not code-signed, not because anything is wrong with it. Windows shows this for every app without a paid certificate. You have two ways in. Either is fine. OPTION 1 — The installer (normal install, shortcuts, Start menu) ---------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Run the Setup .exe you downloaded 2. A blue box appears: "Windows protected your PC" 3. Click "More info" <-- small link, easy to miss 4. Click "Run anyway" 5. Follow the installer. Pixelix Ops appears in the Start menu. After the first install, Windows updates itself in the background whenever a new version is published — you will not have to do this again. OPTION 2 — No installer at all (use this if your PC blocks installers) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Right-click the -win.zip file -> Properties 2. If you see an "Unblock" checkbox at the bottom, tick it -> OK 3. Extract the zip anywhere (Desktop is fine) 4. Open the extracted folder and run "Pixelix Ops.exe" 5. Right-click it -> "Pin to taskbar" so it is easy to find Nothing is installed; delete the folder to remove it. This option does not update itself — re-download when you are told there is a new version. IF YOUR ANTIVIRUS QUARANTINES IT -------------------------------- Some antivirus flags unsigned apps automatically. Add an exclusion for the folder, or use Option 2 above. FIRST RUN --------- The app asks for a server address. Enter: https://ops.pixelixmarketing.com Then sign in with the email and password your admin sent you. You will be asked to choose your own password straight away. WHY THE WARNING EXISTS ---------------------- Code signing certificates cost roughly $200-400 a year and require verifying the company's identity. Buying one removes this warning for everyone permanently. Until then, the steps above are safe and normal. (Macs have the same problem for the same reason, and a one-line installer that avoids it — see the /updates/ page.)
